Wavelength
The wavelength 415 nm can be used for handling acne and also for photodynamic therapy for actinic keratosis. In both cases, treatments are based on the interaction of the blue light with porphyrins. - A high concentration of the photosensitizer is necessary for optimal stimulation.
- Because of their higher metabolism, dysplasic cells accumulate more porphyrins. This allows them to be targeted.
- Blue light with a wavelength of 405 - 420 nm has an especially high absorption maxima and a penetration depth of less than 500 µm.
- This makes blue light ideal for PDT of the skin surface, for example for surface actinic keratosis.

Blue light with a wavelength between 405 and 590 nm has an inhibiting effect on the growth of propioni acne bacteria. This has been shown in vitro in cooperation with the Institute for Laser Medicine at the Ulm University: - At the same energy level, 405-nm blue light has 20x higher inhibition on the growth curve than does 590-nm yellow light.
- In vitro experiments have shown that the phototoxic reaction is directly related to the applied light energy. The LEDA applicator HP 415 blue has a high energy density of 450 mW/cm², so that you can carry out fast and efficient treatments.
