Photodynamic therapy

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with the LEDA applicators HP/SCR 635 red is a gentle, highly effective treatment option for actinic keratosis and other pre-cancers. Even basal cell carcinoma can be treated successfully. Interacting with oxygen and a photosensitizer, red light unleashes its full effect in deeper skin layers. The treatment encourages building of toxic substances that selectively destroy pathologically changed cells.

Clinical data show a complete healing on 70 – 78% of patients after only one treatment. With another session, this number is increased to 90%.

Support of wound healing

Red light can shorten wound healing processes. It penetrates deeply into the skin, calms inflammations and encourages healing processes in the tissue. Poorly healing wounds and swellings decline faster. Red light also fosters regeneration of the skin after an aggressive aesthetical treatment such as ablative skin resurfacing or after heavy sunburn. Red light has analgesic and decongestant effects, calms inflammatory reactions and encourages faster cell proliferation in the skin.
