EXELO₂ was primarily designed for visible skin rejuvenation through fractional laser treatments. However, EXELO₂ can easily ablate superficial skin lesions in Full Ablation Mode.
The wavelength of 10,600 nm is optimally absorbed by water. When this wavelength is applied to the skin, the water in superficial skin layers is vaporized, ablating the skin tissue. The induced heat also leads to thermal stimulation of the connective tissue in deeper skin layers. As a result, new, skin-tightening collagen is built.
Fractional laser treatment for visibly younger skin
The fractional laser therapy with a wavelength of 10,600 nm reduces wrinkles and tightens the whole complexion. Pigment changes such as solar lentigo or melasma fade. Scars or stretch marks can be significantly reduced. Ideal indications for EXELO₂ are
- visible skin rejuvenation and tightening of the skin
- treatment of multiple wrinkles in the face, on the neck and décolleté
- reduction of unwanted pigmentations such as solar lentigo, melasma, nevus of ota
- smoothing of scars, acne scars and stretch marks.
The flexible treatment area can be adapted directly at the scanner. Thus, it perfectly fits the findings in shape and size without overlap.
Removal of superficial skin changes
In Full Ablation Mode, many benign superficial skin changes can directly be ablated with the scanner; there is no need to change handpieces. This includes
- dermal nevi, fibroma, warts
- actinic and seborrhoic keratosis
- hypertrophic scars
- xanthelasma, and many more
Laser scalpel for surgical indications
With an extra handpiece and in continuous wave mode, EXELO₂ also serves as a laser scalpel for smaller surgical indications. With the thermal effect of the CO₂ laser, EXELO₂ can also be used for blood-free cutting of tissue in surgery – minor bleeding is immediately stopped by coagulation. Three spot sizes are available for the laser scalpel: 0.25 mm, 1 mm and 2 mm.
