BURANE / BURANE XL: Applications

The Er:YAG laser system BURANE is the allrounder for aesthetics. BURANE is suitable for skin resurfacing as well as for controlled ablation of benign skin changes. BURANE XL offers additional options to enlarge the wide treatment spectrum.

Removal of superficial skin changes

BURANE and BURANE XL are suited for precise, cold ablation of soft tissue. The wavelength of 2,940 nm achieves the highest absorption in water and thus in the upper skin layers, which consist of up to 70 percent water. The high energy vaporizes the water in the tissue and thus ablates the upper skin layer. The surrounding tissue is protected. Superficial lesions and pigment changes can be removed quickly and gently. This includes:

• non-pigmented dermal nevi such as warts, xanthelasma
• epidermal benign pigmented nevi such as solar lentigo
• actinic and seborrhoic keratosis
• wrinkles by skin resurfacing or laser peeling — ablation of the affected tissue.

Laser treatment for smoothing of wrinkles

BURANE XL uses the patented Thermal Mode to gently and safely smooth fine lines and wrinkles. With the stimulation of the collagen neo-synthesis in the connective tissue, BURANE XL leads to visible skin rejuvenation. The skin surface is protected, there’s practically no downtime for the patient.

In Combination Mode, BURANE XL combines the ablation of the upper skin layer with intense thermal stimulation of the connective tissue, optimizing the treatment of wrinkles.

Treatment of scars

BURANE XL is the gentle and effective treatment solution for scars. In Thermal and in Combination Mode, the Er:YAG laser is suited for

• smoothing of hypertrophic and hypotrophic scars, including acne scars
• reduction of distracting symptoms of scars: redness, tenseness and itchiness.

Fractional laser treatment

With the optional handpieces FX4 and FX12, BURANE XL is suitable for fractional laser treatments. Microscopically small areas of the skin surface are ablated and then quickly renewed during the fast healing process, thus renewing a part of the skin with each fractional treatment. The downtime for the patient is very short and the risk of unwanted side effects is minimized. Fractional laser treatments have good results on:

• skin rejuvenation
• wrinkle reduction
• scar treatment
• treatment of melasma and other unwanted pigment changes of the skin.
