Wavelength
The wavelength of laser radiation defines which skin structures absorb the laser energy. With 2940-nm radiation, BURANE has the optimal wavelength for precise ablation of the skin.
As an Er:YAG laser with 2940 nm, BURANE achieves the highest absorption in water. Since 70% of the skin is water, the top skin layers absorb the laser energy. The high energy causes immediate vaporization of the tissue water in the upper skin layers and thus ablates a 20 - 100 µm layer. The thermal load on the tissue beneath this layer is very low, this is also known as "cold ablation". This "cold ablation" makes 2940-nm radiation especially suitable for safe and gentle removal of a large number of benign anomalies in the epidermis and dermis.

The BURANE XL coagulation mode allows the effective and safe treatment of deeper skin layers. The optimized and patented sequence of pulses allows you to define the thermal energy to be applied without ablating the top skin layer. This allows the non-invasive treatment of wrinkles and scars through thermal stimulation of the dermis and the corresponding collagen synthesis in this region. With the selective combination of ablative laser pulses and laser pulses for coagulation, visibly better treatment results can be achieved.
