Wavelength

MYDON is a long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser system with a wavelength of 1064 nm. The 1064-nm pulses are highly absorbed by hairs (melanin) and blood vessels (hemoglobin) but only minimally by the epidermis. This gives MYDON a high penetration depth.

Because the epidermis only contains little melanin, the epidermis only insignificantly limits the penetration depth and maximum tolerated energy. The Nd:YAG MYDON laser system is therefore suited for all skin types; inacceptable thermal skin damages do not occur when an effective energy density is selected.

The high penetration depth of the Nd:YAG laser beam makes MYDON ideal for treatment of blood vessels. The MYDON laser system is however also suitable for long-term hair removal.
