Wavelength
The wavelength of the CO2 laser EXELO2 , 10.6 µm, is well above the spectrum of visible light. The absorption by water is less than with a Er:YAG laser (BURANE).
This means that the CO2 laser vaporizes (ablates) the top skin layers. At the same time, the heat primarily leads to a shrinking of the skin and a secondary increase of the skin thickness due to the thermal stimulation of the connective tissue.

The disadvantages of a classic laser treatment, such as the long regenerative phase of the skin, are widely reduced by a fractional treatment.
The thermal effect of the CO2 laser EXELO2 makes it possible to use the laser beam as a scalpel to operatively cut tissue without bleeding, since any blood is immediately coagulated.
