Lasers and IPL systems quickly and permanently free the skin from solar lentigo and other bothering pigment changes. Even tattoos can be removed reliably and scar free with modern laser systems.
The demand for pigment removal is constantly growing: Society is aging, but people are no longer willing to accept age spots and other pigment changes associated with age. And with the rising number of tattoos, the potential for tattoo removal also rises: many patients are no longer satisfied with their tattoos. Or tattoos just no longer fit in the patient’s lifestyle. Lasers and IPL (intense pulsed light) systems can remove unwanted natural and artificial pigmentations safely, permanently and scar-free.
What types of pigmentations can be removed with lasers and IPL systems?
Lasers can be used to remove all kind of tattoos and many benign pigment changes, including:
- tattoos and traumatic tattoos, wide range of colors
- professional and amateur tattoos
- permanent make-up, including challenging ink colors such as pink or brown
- solar lentigo
- café au lait spots
- melasma
- nevi of ota, nevi of ito, and much more
Besides lasers, the highly intense IPL system is suitable for removing many natural benign pigment changes such as solar lentigo and café au lait spots.
Active principle of pigment removal with laser and IPL systems
There are different methods for pigment removal with laser and IPL systems. Most of them use a high-energy light beam that penetrates the epidermis and selectively destroys the unwanted pigments. The high energy heats the pigments and blasts them in small pieces. These fractions are partially excreted from the body through the lymphatic system and are partially eliminated directly through the crust building of the healing skin.
Other laser systems can simply ablate natural pigmented skin changes: You can either remove the affected skin in controlled ablative steps or treat it with a fractional laser system. The healing process allows growing of new skin without the pigmentation.
Gentle and highly effective pigment removal
The treatment with lasers and IPL systems is almost pain-free. It protects the epidermis and normally doesn’t produce scars. Tattoo removal with laser systems is superior to other methods because surgery, dermabrasion or bleaching are often painful and have a high risk of scar building.
Natural pigment changes can usually be removed in only one or two sessions. Tattoos often require more sessions, depending on the age of the tattoo, deepness and concentration of the ink particles in the skin and their chemical composition.
