Which skin changes can be removed with the laser?

Your dermatologist can remove many skin changes with the laser in just a few sessions:

• wrinkles are smoothed out, especially the first little wrinkles around the mouth and the eyes
• both convex and concave scars and acne scars are adjusted to the normal skin structure
• accompanying symptoms of scars are drastically reduced, for example redness, tenseness and itchiness
• benign skin changes are removed precisely, including warts, xanthelasma (collections of cholesterol), syringoma (benign tumors of the sweat glands) and other benign adenoids such as fibroma
• keratinizations and other premalignant changes of the upper skin layer can be ablated safely and in controlled steps, for example actinic and seborrhoic keratosis

How does the removal of skin changes with the laser work?

There are different treatment possibilities for wrinkles and scars. With a laser, the physician can ablate – remove – the upper skin layers. The new skin is smooth and tender. The warmth of the laser stimulates the re-building of collagen and hyaluronic acid in deeper skin layers, tightening the skin structure. Both effects can also be combined. Warts and other nevi are ablated step by step to bring out fresh, healthy skin.

The laser treatment is nearly painfree and causes only minimal side effects. Wound healing can last up to ten days, until then the skin can show reddening and little crusts, which fall off after a short time.
