Active acne and acne scars can be treated effectively with lasers and light-based systems. Sebum production and acne scars can be reduced.
Acne is a very common skin disease with a multitude of causes. An overproduction of sebum blocks the pores of the skin, leading to comedos (blackheads). Bacteria in these pores often results in inflammation; the typical acne nodules appear. Acne scars often remain long after the pimples have vanished. The treatment with lasers and light-based system effectively fights active acne and reduces acne scars.
How does acne therapy with lasers and light-based systems work?
Lasers and light-based systems treat the causes of active acne, not just the visible symptoms. The tissue is warmed, destroying sebaceous glands in the skin, resulting in a long-term reduction in the sebum production: Acne is simply dried up. The light also reduces the amount of bacteria in the skin, which are a major cause of inflammations. The warmth of the light stimulates collagen neo-synthesis in deeper skin layers, mildening deeper acne scars. This smoothes the skin surface; uneven areas perfectly match the healthy skin.
Less acne after only one treatment
The acne treatment with lasers and light-based systems has almost no side effects and can be applied on all skin types. Inflammated skin is very sensitive; the patient may experience slight discomfort during the treatment. Skin cooling systems minimize this effect. One treatment takes between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the indication. Active acne is typically visibly reduced after only one treatment. Some patients might need several treatments to achieve optimal results.
